A dear and precious friend in Oregon e-mailed me that she had made and packed some cinnamon bread for me but was not able to ship it because of the ice and snow. The household was going to open them and have a party but they heard that an elderly lady down the street was alone and snowed in so they carried the bread and a pot of hot stew down to her house and they shoveled the snow off her stairs and had hot chocolate with her. This is no surprise to anyone who knows these folks.
I wrote to her that I had never gotten so much joy from a loaf of bread before. This would be the very essence of Christmas Spirit except this is typical of these people all year round! May you all find joy, comfort, and contentment this Christmas Season. I find I have so much to be thankful for in my friends and associates. Thank you all.

My Gentle Mac...
I must admit that bestowing your bread was a bid to keep from being sad and blue myself. I was feeling down because The Child couldn't make it home for the holidays. I simply followed my mother's example of looking for something good to do for someone. It took my mind right off my own little drama and put my focus back where it should have been. I enjoyed doing it and am richer for knowing the little lady down the street now. Thank you, Sir.

Hi Mac! How's Texas treatin' ya? Is your new year starting out well? Me? Im getting over a cough but for the most part Im still healthy and swimming as much as I can. The ocean through my nose seems to help a great deal. The water got up to almost 58 with the warm day yesterday! whoo hoo!. Hope that holds. Its almost comfortable with the wetsuit and a double cap on. I am lucky to have the warm sun when I get out to warm up this week. A big hug for you and give Elena a hug from me too.
Funny thing about Texas transplants..I called a friend that moved to Houston about year ago and he already picked up a Texas drawl. It was extremely funny!

My wife and I are well, thank you. Of course we have concerns about the future but we are very lucky to be in good shape as long as my former partner does well. Thanks to his generosity we are in good shape. I hope you find the peace of mind and soul that you deserve.
